Animation Workshops at the Motor Museum

GooRoo Animation Workshop

Once again, the team from GooRoo Animation will be offering the experience of some movie making fun at the Museums these holidays! Come visit us at the National Motor Museum to create your very own movies and find out! You’ll learn all about what goes into making animation, giving you a behind the scenes glimpse into producing an animated movie at a professional level.

Be inspired by the objects on display and create your own film. Movies will be filmed and put together using the Stop Motion Studio App available on mobile devices. They will then be uploaded to YouTube via the GooRoo Animation Workshops channel so you can share them with all your friends and family.

GooRoo Stop-Motion Animation Workshops at the South Australian Museum

18 and 19 January 2024
Sessions at 11.00am and 1.30pm

Fresh from Sundance and SXSW film festivals, GONDWANA VR: The Exhibition has brought a touch of movie magic to the South Australian Museum.

To celebrate, we’ve invited the gang from GooRoo Animation to help younger visitors aged 7-13 make their own eye-popping animated film. After sold-out sessions in July 2023, you’ll design and sculpt your own plasticine characters and creatures, then bring them to life using the Stop Motion Studio app.

We’ll screen everyone’s finished videos at the end of the workshop, before they’re uploaded to the GooRoo YouTube channel for you to share with your friends and family.

All equipment is provided, so book now and let the fun begin!

Relaxed, sensory friendly morning at the South Australian Museum

13 January 2023
8.00 am – 10.00 am

A sensory-friendly evening for visitors of all ages, their families, friends, and support workers.

Visitors with sensory or accessibility needs such as autism can enjoy a quieter, less crowded visit to the Museum out of hours. This is a chance to see all the permanent galleries, and maybe discover something you’ve never noticed before.

While everyone is always welcome at the Museum, sometimes the crowds and noise make visits harder for neurodivergent visitors and those living with a disability. Some of the screens, lights and sounds around the Museum will be altered for the evening to make it a more sensory friendly experience. Sensory backpacks will also be available to borrow free of charge.

This is a ticketed event for people with sensory needs and their accompanying family, friends or support workers. Please purchase a ticket for all attendees when you book, as numbers are limited to ensure a quiet environment.

This is a pay-what-you-can event:
Please contribute what you can afford to give for each ticket and enjoy this event. Our access programming is funded solely through donations and we’re grateful for every contribution no matter how big or small. Your contribution will help us to continue to present these programs into the future.
