Adelaide girls Roxy Walsh, Julie Wadham and Fleur Kennedy started their online business Kids in Adelaide two years ago to give families a fun and easy way to find information on things to do with kids in Adelaide.

“We find the best playgrounds, cafes, events and activities in Adelaide for families and keep them informed of any new and exciting things to do,” said Julie.

“Our mission is to be the best online resource for all Adelaide parents and carers. As parents of kids in Adelaide ourselves, we strive to bring the best information on what to do and where to go.”

“We know the small, secret and new places that our great city houses and we want to share them with our community. We are huge believers in supporting our local businesses and families.”

In two short years since launching, Kids in Adelaide has amassed a following of more than 25,000 on Facebook, with social media posts regularly reaching more than 100,000 people each week. The website now achieves 75,000 monthly page views, with 35,000 new monthly users making Kids in Adelaide one of the fastest growing online family sites in Adelaide.

Julie, Roxy and Fleur say the business works largely because of their passion for the community.

“We love our SA community and what it offers for families; that is what we are passionate about,” said Julie.

“Winning this national award is fantastic. The way the Adelaide community have engaged with Kids in Adelaide has been amazing and we are growing every day. We put our hearts and souls into Kids in Adelaide and it is wonderful to be recognised for our hard work.”

“We are very proud of what we have achieved over the past two years – juggling five kids between us, as well as our day jobs, has been difficult to manage at times but our passion drives us. We also thank our families and friends for their support of our online pursuits!”

The prestigious national awards were announced on Saturday 14 May, celebrating and showcasing the outstanding hard work, determination and achievements of many mums in business across the country.

What sets these particular awards apart from many others is they are judged by a panel rather than social media voting. This means all winners are determined based on merit.

According to Motivating Mums, Kids in Adelaide were announced as the winners of the social media category due to their ‘development of a steadily growing and highly engaged Facebook and Instagram community and their great use of on-brand digital storytelling via a mix of created and curated content that is highly relevant to their audience’.

Kids in Adelaide have won jewellery, coverage in Little One Magazine online and a business package valued at more than $1,000.

For those of you with only older children, these playground spaces are still great and you just get the added bonus of sitting down instead of chasing a toddler around trying to put their hat on! • Creating Fun. Inspiring Creativity. Three Daisies is a place to find the perfect party favours! Three Daisies was created by Adelaide Mum, Sarah, as part of a quest to find a better way to create party bags for her children’s birthday celebrations. Sarah wishes she could claim to be that super organised mum, but in reality spends most of the time flying by the seat of her pants, trying not to forget anything too important, ensure the kids are clean and fed, and remember to pack those drink bottles and hats (while never remembering to pack her own!).  This is sounding very familiar to us! Special events are met with a similar style of (dis)organisation. A birthday party will be a few days off and the party bag is where she wanted to add that something extra special. It can be tough when there needs to be 20 party bags for the party, add in her last minute shopping style and all too often Sarah found herself staring at bags of plastic in department stores, thinking - lucky if those make it home after the party and not straight to the bin. She knew there had to be another way.  Three…
