A is For … Adelaide Oval
It would be remiss of us not to include this Adelaide icon first up! Head to the Oval to see AFL, cricket, some of the world’s best performers, OR take your sport mad kids on an Adelaide Oval Tour complete with Kids Trail.
C is For … Capri Theatre
Another Adelaide icon! Catch all the latest movies, plus be entertained by the organ before the movie starts. You’ll find this lovely art deco theatre on Goodwood Road.
E is For … Eating

G is For … Gorge Wildlife Park
We love anywhere that we can see some cute & cuddly (& sometimes scaly & scary) native animals! Gorge Wildlife Park is no exception. Head for the hills! Pack a picnic & spend a day wandering the park with the kids, they will love it!
I is For … Ice ArenA
An Adelaide institution, what Adelaide parent doesn’t remember school excursions here and discos on the ice? It’s time to take your own kids for a skate or maybe for one of their Snow Play sessions.
K is For … Kuipto Forest
There are so many walks to do in Kuipto Forest, as well as trees to climb, hidden teepees to find & firepits to keep warm. Spend a few nights camping or just go for the day. Read more about Kuipto & other bushwalking adventures here.

M is For … Melbas
Melbas has gotta be some of the best chocolate in Adelaide! Take a drive up to the Adelaide Hills to visit their factory & stock up on their delicious treats. They also regularly have fun events & special activities in school holidays so keep an eye out.
O is For … Onkaparinga River Recreation Park
Head about 35kms south of Adelaide & take the kids on the bushwalk, go to the lookouts, have a picnic & go wildlife spotting. This is nature at its absolute best! See which sections we recommend.
Q is For … Quentin Kenihan Memorial Playground
This playground is brand new, colourful, fully fenced & ACCESSIBLE! It’s in Rymill Park & has so much going for it! There’s a bit of water play, paths for bikes & scooters, a bbq, sensory elements & has so many inclusive & wheelchair friendly. See our review.
S is For … Shanx Mini Golf
It’s mini golf but played on a full scale course! Kids will love it, adults will get competitive… Shanx at Regency Park also often run special activities such as face painting on long weekends so be sure to keep an eye on their socials for info.
U is For … Urth Clay
If you have a craft, artsy kid, be sure to book them into a pottery session with Urth Clay. They will get to learn how to create some wonderful objects out of clay that they will get to take home with them. Keep an eye out for their school holidays sessions. Urth Clay Gift Vouchers also make great presents.
W is For … West Beach Adventure
The coolest aerial playground around! West Beach Adventure is for the daring and those who love a bit of an adrenaline rush. But even if you don’t you can take a walk on their observation deck while the kids get harnessed up and play tennis mid air or have a go on the giant swing!

Marion Bay. Moonta. Innes. Ardrossan. Wallaroo. Kadina. Point Turton. Port Rickaby. Edithburgh. Stansbury. Port Broughton. These are just SOME of the fantastic beaches & spots to visit over on Yorkes. We have written a whole feature about this great part of SA!
B is For … BBQ Buoys
Cruise along the River Torrens for two hours in your own Buoy! You can take your own food along, or pre-order grill packs & grazing platters when you book. BBQ Buoys are a great way to catch up with friends and see the city from another angle.
D is For … Dolphin Sanctuary Kayak Tours
Down Port Adelaide way you’ll find the Dolphin Sanctuary – booking a kayak tour is one of the best ways to explore this area & say gday to some aquatic friends! Dolphin Sanctuary Kayak Tours run regular sessions that you can book into. They are fun, educational, relaxing & good exercise all at the same time!
F is For … Funtopia
Head to Prospect to visit Funtopia, one of the best play cafes we have come across! It’s suitable for kids of all ages & includes several worlds including Playground World & Climbing World. Plus their onsite cafe is fantastic, meaning you can chill out with a coffee while the kids play!
H is For … Hahndorf Farm Barn
While we’re on the topic of animals…head to the Hills for the kids to cuddle baby farm animals, milk a cow, have a tractor ride, ride on a pony & more! We love Hahndorf Farm Barn & you can read all about it here.
J is For … Jungle In Willunga
Go for the nursery, stay for the walk through jungle & animal hunt. This hidden gem is in Willunga & you can easily spend a few hours here – don’t forget to find the Fairy Garden! Check it out.
L is For … Land Of The Lemurs
If you like to move it, move it or just think lemurs are super cue little critter, then book into a Land Of The Lemurs experience at Monarto Safari Park! You’ll be able to spend time with them in their habitat & learn all about these funny litte creatures!
N is For … Nature Play
Almost every new playground that has been built in the last decade has nature play elements and even if you’re not heading to a playground, you’ll find plenty of reserves, national parks, forests and reservoirs around Adelaide where your kids can be at one with nature. Don’t forget the change of clothes!

P is For … Pick Your Own Fruit!
It’s no secret that South Australia has some of the best produce in the world! And luckily for us, there are some farms where we can pick our own! Think cherries, apples, figs, strawberries… the list goes on. Many aren’t too far from the city and often have other family friendly activities on site. Most are seasonal so be sure to check each place’s website or socials for opening details!
R is For … Rockpools
We are belssed with so many beautiful beaches here in Adelaide & a ton of them have rockpools that the kids will love to explore. Find some unusual marine life, balance on the rocks & cool off. We have rounded up a heap of great rockpools across the state to discover here.
T is For … Thorndon Park
Fresh from a HUGE upgrade, Thorndon Park has reopened & has gotta be one of the best playgrounds in the Northern suburbs, if not all of Adelaide. It is the perfect place to spend a day so pack a picnic & take the kids to see their new giant bird slide plus all the other cool new equipment.
V is For … Victor Harbor
A trip to Victor Harbor was always a yearly pilgrimage in my family! There is so much to see & do, it’s worth booking a few nights there. Take a walk across to Granite Island, play on the GT Fisher Playground, have lunch at Shaa-Koo-Tuh-Ree & pop into the Whale Centre.

X is For … X-Golf Marion
And not just X-Golf! As well as their golf simulators, Hey Caddy has just opened up at X-Golf Marion, full of tons of putt putt fun! You could really spend the day there giving it all a go and enjoy their menu too!
Z is For … Zoo
We love the Adelaide Zoo – from our giant pandas to the giraffes, to the native animals to the bird show, we love nothing more than to spend a day wandering around Adelaide Zoo taking it all in! Of course the nature playground is always a highlight, right next to the Variety Childrens Zoo.
Put aside a day at LEAST once a year to visit the Zoo and say gday to your favourite animals.
