Udder Delights, Hahndorf
Located in beautiful Hahndorf, Udder Delights Cheese Cellar offers an all-day breakfast menu, meals for one or two, and a great selection of well-priced cheese boards.
We each selected a cheese board for lunch and all were served with a piping hot, freshly toasted ciabatta roll. All of the cheese servings were extremely generous, and the boards were filling and excellent value.
The Kids Board is unbeatable value at $10.95 and was declared by our 8-year-old to be the best meal she has ever eaten. The Kids Board is served with your choice of spread for the ciabatta roll, your choice of cheese, fresh or dried fruit, and a gingerbread man. The kids really enjoyed the hands-on experience of eating from the board and we were all able to enjoy a relaxing lunch while they savoured the experience.
The cheese fondue we spied being enjoyed at a nearby table is top of our “To Eat” list on our next visit!
Udder Delights have a great range of drinks on offer, with the hot and cold chocolates made with real chocolate, fantastic barista-made coffees, and a range of wines and beers for the grown-ups. The iced chocolates were the best we’ve had, and the “real” hot chocolate proved a hit with the kids as they stirred and melted it themselves.
All of the cheeses we tasted were excellent, and Udder Delights offer free cheese tastings in store. We guarantee after tasting the cheeses on offer you won’t be leaving empty handed! The store also offers a great selection of afternoon tea sweets, cheese board products (including boards and knives), and “real” hot chocolate on a stick to take home and enjoy.
Udder Delights has cosy indoor seating, and in dry weather, the terrace overlooking the street is a lovely place to sit and watch the vibrant streetscape, with throw-rugs available to borrow on cooler days. There is also a lovely lower level indoor dining area downstairs that is accessed by a reasonably steep flight of stairs, so not suitable for prams. The toilets are accessed from the side of the building, and although there are no change facilities available, the ladies toilet is large enough to allow comfortable access for a pram. There is ramp access to the store and kids will love to pose for a photo with the bright yellow cow. Highchairs are available on request.
