I Choose SA Day – KiA Style

By  |

I Choose SA Day is back this Saturday 27 October and it’s our chance to celebrate all things South Aussie.

To give you some ideas of how you can choose SA we’ve each chosen our favourite SA products and businesses below.

Roxy

Fave Shop/Product – Adelaide’s Finest Supermarket at Frewville. I could (and have) spend hours in this store. Food glorious food!
Fave Kid Friendly Cafe/Restaurant – I love, and my kids love Patch Kitchen & Garden up in the Adelaide Hills
Fave Kids Store – Daisy & Hen Baby and Children’s boutique with shops in Glenelg and Tanunda and also an online store. Congratulations to them, as they’ve just won a Jetty Rd Traders award!
Fave for Mum – Maggie Beer Quince Paste (with a glass of SA wine to wash it down – I’m loving the Shiraz from Porchlight Wines)

Fleur

Fave product for mum and dad- We aren’t big drinkers, but when we do open a bottle we love Vinteloper.
Fave Kid Friendly Cafe/Restaurant-
Seacliff Surf Life Saving Club is amazing. Breathtaking views, great food, space for kids and prams between tables and kids eat FREE!
Fave for Mum-
I can’t go past any of the beautiful stores in Brighton, but particularly Lotus Gifts. They have beautiful homewares, jewellery, clothing and gifts.

Julie

Fave Shop/Product  I’m a sucker for chocolate and a good red wine, so Haighs, Fruchocs and Rockford Wines are all high on my SA Faves list!
Fave Kid Friendly Cafe/Restaurant
With very active kids, we opt for outdoor cafes with a place for the kids to play onsite. Two of our faves are Kiosk 16 at Victoria Park and Grass Roots kiosk at Glenunga Hub. For a more upmarket venue we love lunch at Barrister’s Block winery.
Fave For Kids –
Given the choice, my kids would usually opt for a day at the Adelaide Zoo or Cleland Wildlife Park.
Fave for Mum
I recently went to Adventure Rooms Adelaide with some friends (and no kids!) and had a blast trying to escape the room in under an hour. Find more info on them in this post

Jacki

Fave Shop – Well, it is all about food for me, but as one simply can not just ‘choose’ between Foodland’s, I am going to have to call it Tony & Marks, Brickworks . Cheese & Olives for days and loads of SA goodies to eat with it!
Fave Kid Friendly Cafe/Restaurant –
Pfft my children haven’t eaten any thing other than mini cucumbers for years. We love a good pub ‘kids eat free‘ deal – because yeah – I have legit given up.
Fave Kids Store – Shoes of Malvern for their high quality, specialist fitting, no BS approach.
Fave for Mum –
Gin’s from Adelaide Hills Distillery, loved for their hand crafting, celebration of native Australia and sustainable practice; plus damn tasty and perhaps….best enjoyed whilst online shopping with Blush & Co.

Jenn (note missing one child in photo…we have NO family photos – terrible! )

Fave Shop –  I will call it my Henley Square Trio. Henley Beach FoodlandMinnow on Seaview and One Rundle Trading All SA stores I love… I can browse all of them all day…
Fave Product – Barossa Fine Foods –https://www.barossafinefoods.com.au/ Chorizo! Its in the 3 out of 5 dishes I know how to make
Fave Kid Friendly Cafe/Restaurant –
We are not public facing with our age brackets yet.
Fave Kids Store –
Too be honest I am into op shops big time! In Findon you will find the Op Shop Mega Centre with four huge op shops. My kids love looking (oh and me too) for treasures and we like to give our old treasures back too. Best yet the proceeds are going to South Australian communities in need!
Fave for Mum – I love Matilda’s Bookstore in Stirling! We don’t have bookstores like this anymore. I make my Husband stop every-time (gawd I love him) so I can smell fresh books and buy beautiful coffee table books… that I never read. Maybe one day in retirement.. oh wait and there are beautiful kids books too! ha!

Vic

Fave Shop/Product – Anywhere that sells Cheese and wine – there is a lot of great places in SAbut if I had to choose one I’d head straight to the Adelaide Central Market
Fave Kid Friendly Cafe/Restaurant –
Not sure I have a favourite but I do love at Moseley Sq Glenelg and Malobo Kitchen and Bar at Henley Sq as I can sit outside at both enjoy my coffee whilst my little girl happily plays in the fountains or wide space.
Fave Kids Store –
Daisy & Hen (I’m with Roxy on this one) I can never walk past this store and not walk in. Love the variety of clothes along with cute toys.
Fave for Mum –
Bird In Hand Winery – Bottle of bubbles , cheese platter. I’m set for the afternoon.

Why not spent this Saturday celebrating all things SA with your family. Purchase some delicious local produce, spend a day out in SA with family and friends or choose a local supplier.

There are also a number of I Choose SA events happening around the state, see below for more details
