Girls Rock! Adelaide Winter program
This is a recurring event:
Adelaide SA 5005
Not for profit community youth organisation Girls Rock! Adelaide are holding their first ever Rock Camp from 15-20 July 2019 at the Elder Conservatorium of Music, University of Adelaide.
The organisation uses the medium of music to inspire confidence, encourage creativity, celebrate individuality and provide opportunity for girls, trans and non binary young people aged 10 – 17 through a week long music mentoring program. Participants will have the opportunity to develop their creativity in a safe, non-judgemental space led by female and gender diverse musicians and industry practitioners.
While referred to as “Rock Camp”, Girls Rock! is a day program running from 9am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday during a week in the school holidays, featuring workshops, presentations, instrument lessons, band practice, and lunchtime concerts from female, female-led and gender diverse bands and artists. Attendees form bands, choose an instrument (guitar, bass, drums, vocals or synth), and write an original song that is performed in a special showcase on Saturday 20 July 1pm – 3pm in a real live music venue!
No music experience is necessary, and all the instruments are provided. We prioritise accessibility and diversity, and have some financial aid available to ensure no young person misses out due to financial constraints.
