Boomers on the Beach
Have you been to the Glenelg Foreshore playground yet?
Needless to say it’s pretty amazing. We love seeing all of the new nature play spaces popping up around South Australia which are encouraging children to embrace sand, water, trees, branches, logs – good old fashioned play! The slide is EPIC! We just recommend keeping a close eye on your little ones as you can loose sight of them when they climb up the grassy hill to reach the top of the slide.
Overlooking the playground (part of the Glenelg town hall) is the café, Boomers on the Beach. It’s the ideal place to have a bite to eat or enjoy a coffee before or after a play (or even during a play if you tag team with another adult). You can sit outside with a view of the playground, or enjoy the retro interior.
It’s funky and casual. Obviously beach goers are often wearing thongs so you don’t need to worry about a dress code! We all really enjoyed our meals, coffees, cakes and milkshakes. You certainly can’t go passed a great bacon and egg brekkie on a Saturday morning! They pride themselves on supporting local produce, wine and artworks which are constantly changing. Staff are friendly, chatty and welcoming – it certainly has a great relaxing beachy vibe! The owner was telling me about plans for a kids play corner in the near future.
It’s not long until the Fringe Festival will be hitting Adelaide and Boomers on the Beach is hosting a number of shows including “The Grand kinder-Jazz Time Machine” on the 19th and 26th of Feb at 11am and 2pm. Go here for more info –
