Love at first supermarket. If ‘destination grocery shopping’ was a thing, then Adelaide’s finest supermarkets, Frewville Foodland and Pasadena Foodland would surely be classified as Disneyland for foodies, and those with specialist dietary requirements alike.

We LOVE it here. You will too.

Neither Frewville Foodland or Pasadena Foodland are in my local hood, yet I regularly make the trip for household groceries because the experience, huge range, general values and initiatives of this South Aussie business are THAT. GOOD. Have you checked them out?

Kids in Adelaide recently paid a visit to catch up with the team at Adelaide’s finest, and maaaaan have these two supermarkets got a whole lot of awesome going on. From the company’s impressive corporate social and environmental responsibility initiatives, to the retail focus on health, well-being, eco- friendly product lines, in store dining offerings and live music, it’s hard to know where to start. Our hearts said ‘CHEESE FRIDGE’ – our brains said ‘kids stuff’.

Adelaide’s finest supermarkets have a large range of eco friendly products, from cleaning to food storage to babies, you can find it all

We were pretty keen to check out their baby range, and were well impressed with the HUGE variety and multiple options when it comes to feeding babies/toddlers conveniently but with out feeling guilty. There are brands upon brands of organic meals, superfoods and on the go snacks on offer, with out all of the nasty additives. Good to know a lot of the products stocked are Australian made too, and some pretty cool selections from NZ.

As busy parents, we want convenience AND quality right? Not to sacrifice one for the other, AND we want choice/options yeah? Throw in some ethical and sustainable production methods and we are sold. Agree? Please enter – this is your place.

Adelaide’s finest are known for being a specialist stockist, and you won’t be disappointed if you are looking for alternative options to main stream grocery lines. There is plenty on offer for little tummies (and big ones) that can’t tolerate dairy, nuts, gluten and so on and so forth. No matter your age, dietary preference or intolerance, it is all so well catered for in these stores. Goats milk formula? No worries. Organic superfoods magic sprinkles? Shop here. Seventy three million types of gluten free, yeast free, grain free, vegan, additive free breads? Gotcha covered. Cocoa kids bars with nothing artificial? Step right up. Don’t even get me started on the entire dairy free yogurt fridge. It is endless.

There are ALL specialty breads. There are also shelves upon shelves of gluten free products and it feels like every conceivable dietary need is catered for in these supermarkets.

The exceptionally large range of ‘other’ baby products is noteworthy. The prices are really good and the selection of wipes, washes, creams, shampoos and oils are delicious. Again, HEAPS of Aussie made and heaps of chem free and organic products – and that makes us smile and think that Adelaide’s finest really do listen to what consumers are after. Don’t want chemicals in your baby wipes? No problems. Hate coconut alternatives? Loads of seed oil based products. Shop on, my sensitive skin friends and ethical earth warriors.

Need a gift for a new or expecting mum, seriously, grab it here with your groceries.

Speaking of gifts, did you know that both Frewville and Pasadena sell vouchers for their gorgeous High Tea offering at The Flowerbar? What BFF wouldn’t want to be given a taste of the #hightealife. Check out their facebook page [link below] for some other bookable events too. Ohhhhh and the flowers and gifts are to.die.for. [Husband if you’re reading I could probably make it worth your while if you were to find your way to Adelaide’s finest and grab me a [deserving] little loot of South Australian hand made skin care products from ‘The Little Vintage Body’. I can’t speak on behalf of the other wives out there but blokes – try your luck!] flowerbar@adelaidesfinest.com.au

If you are shopping sans kids, why not kick back with a copy of the in house publication “locale'” and a juice or something from Blue Zone Wellness Kitchen? Meet a girlfriend at the Gin Bar? Stop by the Cheese Bar for a platter and glass of wine? Make a lovers day date and slurp back a cool dozen Coffin Bay oysters at Oceanic Bar? Lunch it at Salumibar? Coffee catch up with your Mum at the bakery/sweet end of the business or settle in for a delightful meal at Mr Nicks. And you thought we were writing about grocery shopping. Pffft what groceries again?

Pasadena Foodland is perfect for those miserable winter days or scorching Radelaide summers, offering undercover car parking and shelter to load up. (Especially valuable when dordeling little people are involved). They also tell us Frewville is getting more car parking spaces. Perfect!

Sooooooo…….pay Adelaide’s finest supermarkets a visit some time at Frewville Foodland or Pasadena Foodland. We can’t promise it will be a quick trip to the shops, but we can promise it will be a good one, and you would be forgiven for forgetting that you are in a supermarket.

  • I. LOVE. MARKETS! I've been on both sides of the market stall, and I am a big fan. Give me a fresh juice, some live music, and some cheese samples and I will come a running. Here in Adelaide we are so lucky to have so many fantastic markets to choose from so we've gathered up the ones we know about and added them all to this page. It's updated constantly with new markets added all the time so make sure you check back each weekend to find out where your local market is, or discover a new Adelaide market to check out this weekend!

  • Do your kids love pizza? Do your kids love mac n cheese? If you answered yes to both......don't make them choose! We've found a place where you can get both......together......on the same plate! That's right.......mac n cheese deep crust pizza at Remy's - Deep Dish Pizza & Bar is a thing.....and it's a DELICIOUS crowd pleaser of a thing. If your kids are cheese obsessed like mine this is definitely going to be a winner! Plus the cocktails… YUM! Their menu is chock-a-block full of deep dish pizza goodness. If Mac n Cheese ain't your thing they've also got a bunch of other just as mouth watering pizza toppings including snag n shrooms, triple cheeseburger and the fire breather as well as never fail faves like The Basic B (just cheese) and BBQ chicken. There's vegan options and they also have fries, garlic bread and fried mozarella if you need something on the side. It comes with a disclaimer that the pizzas take 30-40 minutes to cook, but when we went there was super speedy service, which is always great when you have kids in tow. There's isn't heaps of room for prams, so just bear this in mind when…
