A children’s parkour workshop can be a fun and engaging way to introduce young people to the exciting world of Parkour and urban acrobatics. These workshops typically offer a range of activities designed to develop participants’ strength, agility, and coordination, while also teaching them key functional tips and techniques for navigating obstacles safely and effectively.

One popular activity in children’s parkour workshops is the obstacle course. This might involve setting up a series of challenging obstacles, such as walls, bars, and balance beams, that participants must navigate using a variety of acrobatic techniques. Other activities might include games that promote teamwork and communication, such as relay races or partner exercises. Urth Clay Studio

Urth Clay Studio are running some great school holiday sessions for kids and teens! Sessions are 2.5 hours each with each session focused on making a different project.

At Urth clay studio they believe in the calming effect of clay. Kids and teens can submerge their hands in the mud to reach places that regular conversations won’t allow.

Kids Trail at Adelaide Oval

Plants in space are used for food and research, but they are also playing an important role for astronauts’ well-being and foster a connection to Earth.

FREE screenings of Embrace Kids

Flinders University are running FREE screenings of Embrace Kids during the July school holidays. Embrace Kids is an uplifting film by Australian of the Year (and fellow South Aussie!), Taryn Brumfitt, which brings together a vibrant collection of stories from young people and famous friends alike, who share their experiences about body image, bullying, gender identity, advocacy, representation and more.

Flinders University researchers would love to know what attendees think of the film, so there will be opportunities to participate in research on the day, and you could win an Embrace prize pack!

Screenings will be held on Monday 10th July and Friday 21st July at Flinders University’s Tonsley campus (1284 South Rd). Sessions will commence at 1:30pm.

Firstival

Try something for the first time this winter at your local library!

Firstival is a brand new festival providing over 300 experiences across local libraries this July. You’ll be sure to find something new to do with the kids these winter school holidays, with everything from learning about virtual reality to a Lego build and smash and even a Hogwarts Escape Room on offer. Best of all there are activities happening at every public library across South Australia.

Presented by Libraries SA, Firstival will be held from Saturday 1 July 2023 until Monday 31 July 2023, with a program of unique, free and low-cost events at each of the state’s 130 public libraries.

Migration Museum – Creative Characters Mask Workshop

Come along to the Migration Museum this July School Holidays to make your very own creative character mask!

What character will you become when you put on your mask?

Create something from your imagination or be inspired by your favourite book and movie characters. Let your imagination run wild with this fun and creative mask-making workshop!

The workshop will also include a short tour of the Migration Museum exhibition Commedia Dell’arte: A Travelling Theatre Across Time and Place. This exhibition includes an exciting selection of Italian Commedia style masks. Children will get to have a look at the exhibition and be inspired by the masks on display before making their own mask in the workshop.

Archie Badenoch Port River Tours

Take a cruise along the Port River on the SA Maritime Museum historic vessel Archie Badenoch. Built during WWII by General Motor Holden for the Royal Australian Navy, the vessel was commissioned by the South Australian Police in December 1946. Named ‘Archie Badenoch’ in honour of Constable Archibald Badenoch, the first SA Police Officer killed in action during World War II. Archie was operated by the South Australian Police as the number 1 Water Police Launch until 1978. The vessel is now owned and operated by the South Australian Maritime Museum.

The Port River Cruise will take approximately 1 hour with stops along the way at many of the historical areas and points of interest along the Port River.

Included in your Port River Cruise ticket is admission to the South Australian Maritime Museum including their exhibitions relating to life in Port Adelaide.
