10 reasons you need to get yourself to Marion Holiday Park.
So, what lays behind the big red sign on Sturt Road that says Marion Holiday Park? Curious? Do yourself a favour next time you’re driving past in the area make sure its the time you actually check in to discover it for yourself.
It’s more than just a standard holiday park, it’s a resort…. in Adelaide…. so no need for passports, a full tank of fuel or taking time off work to enjoy this well thought out place for families that makes you just smile and think wow, I’m so glad I’m here. I feel a world away yet I am so close to home!
I had the absolute pleasure of returning for my second visit and woweee I found myself looking at availability for my next visit as soon as I checked out. That always tells me a great time was had.
Here are 10 great reasons to check out of the day-to-day and check into a fabulous vacay at Marion Holiday Park.
1. The Palms
Move over Palm Springs. Marion has their own Palms and it was so surprising to see the end result of this feature at the resort. It was getting built last time we stayed here and I was so impressed at the final product. The Palms consists of a SECURE area (do I hear cocktail orders running through your head?) with a fab outdoor cinema screening Disney favourites for the kids while lounging in the comfy bean bags. Stroll over to the beer garden with chic booths to have a meal or grab a snack and cocktails…. sorry…. refreshments. It was SO SO good to just relax knowing the kids were safe and secure. Well Played Marion Holiday Park. Well Played.
2.In or Out
Say hello to the beautiful 45m lagoon pool which screams “come play” and you would think you’re in Hawaii or even Phuket. Now, to be honest we were not there during an Adelaide scorcher (thinking I will do one of those impromptu check ins on a 40c day come December) BUT you get the best of both worlds so you head on over to the indoor pool if its still a bit fresh outside.
A rarity in Adelaide to have both options for swimming in the one place and didn’t have the kids feel they missed out because it was too cold. Happy kids. Happy parents. If you have dare devils who want to swim year round… wetsuits are available at the information kiosk.
3. Water Park
Hours of entertainment at the water park are to be had! At this point I am thinking two nights next time… one is just not enough. Waterslides, a huge splash bucket and great hiding spots for water play. The Lagoon Units are the best location to stay on to watch the kids enjoy hours of splash time!
4. Jumping Pillow
Need to get a nap from the little ones? Or be guaranteed a night of good sleep? Get them burning lots of energy on the giant inflatable jumping pillow which is fully shaded.
5. Adventure Playground
Jumping Pillow a little busy? Just head left to the Adventure Playground. With multiple levels, slides, swings and climbing walls, the Adventure Playground is the perfect spot for a play and challenge for the kids.
6. Don’t Bring a Thing
I had this hot tip up my sleeve from my first visit. I love that you do not have to pack or think of everything to bring. Towels – sorted! Baby gates – sorted! Wet Suits for hire – sorted. Equipment for hire – sorted! Kitchen appliances – sorted!
7. Food at Your Finger Tips
I made the mistake the first time we stayed of leaving the park and scouting a restaurant for dinner. WRONG! Stay in your gorgeous pad and order yourself a meal from the Palms ! Go for a walk – collect and enjoy in your pad! If you are staying multiple nights head to Coles before your stay only 2km away and stock up on supplies if needed and enjoy a picnic on your balcony or in your accommodation.
I also love ordering the breakfast basket which has everything you need to cook a yummy breakfast – eggs, bacon, fresh bread, cereal… easy peasy.
8. Games and More Games
We did a quick stop at the Games room (yes, a games room too!). The kids (and maybe some of us “big kids”) can’t possibly get bored at this place. Big couches where adults can relax and the kids can have some video game fun. If you’ve had enough of relaxing there’s also a pool table, table tennis, basketball hoop & even an indoor tennis court next door with equipment for hire from reception. Great for a rainy day should you encounter one.
Get back to nature in Marion Holiday Park’s surrounds – a beautiful nature creek! An adventure around every corner!
10. Stylish pads
Now between you and me, I could easily just come here for a little adults getaway. The accommodation is superb. I stayed in a Deluxe Poolside Villa and it was plush with a capital P! Visions of me with a book and a wine could not escape with the awesome views and lovely fittings throughout the whole apartment. My favourite was the balcony overlooking the resort and the private access to the pool. Did I mention you have your own BBQ on the deck too?!
My recommendation would be to go in with some friends and get the whole apartment upstairs and downstairs that sleeps 8! These apartments are not cheap cheap but they shouldn’t be since you are getting a fully serviced luxury apartment with all the bells and whistles.
Oh and reason #11 ……how good is it to support a local business in SA!
